Instructor Update: Jack

Great to have you back for another update, time flies and it’s pretty obvious that given any chance you do too. We’re fortunate to have a naturally talented, multi skilled pilot on the team! We’ve loved following the adventures of Izzy and yourself this winter and look forward to the rest of the year.

We loved seeing you flying in Celebrity Bear Hunt with Bear Grylls, can you tell us something from behind the scenes:

Theres no real BTS I have to share but it was another classic BG film trip. Aside from the ridiculous humidity, pouring with sweat & a handful of planes / animals that can kill you. It was just brilliant to be out there flying the sandy beaches of Costa Rica. It was just epic!

Having said that, I did have a Coati break into the room to steal my complimentary coffee beans whilst I was sleeping & then I lost the paramotors on the way home. Took us a couple of months to get them back!

Some memories from last year instructing for Rise.

Probably the best memory for me coaching last year was the VIP course. The pilots on this course (Ben, Stephen & Tabor) I met purely through our work at RISE & they have since become good friends. Getting to fly alongside them & coach them all full on was just awesome. Our last flight we decided to all fly into butterfly valley where we had an end of course drink & a swim with the sunset. You couldn’t beat it!

What are your plans for this year?

Aside from the main events which are usually the time in Oludeniz coaching & the summer flying season. We are going to take our camper around the alps this summer to fly & jump as much as we can. Then towards the end of summer we’re hoping to go on a flying trip with our plane hopping between various Airbnb’s & French châteaux.

Other than flying what have you been doing for fun?

Well, I don’t really know what else I do for fun, all the flying & skydiving aside. I’ve just had a minor knee surgery so that’s occupying my time and I love the cinema, so we have been there a lot.

Some advice for this year’s students.

There’s no rush, progression is incidental to intentional practise. YOU WILL get there. But forcing it and causing yourself mental strain or physical injury will set you back. We have had the pleasure of mentoring some pilots over a 4/5 year period now & it’s beautiful to see them become the pilot they want to be.
